Policies
CAA supports the development, implementation and execution of practical and economically feasible measures to conserve energy and reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. However, we also believe that the proposed solutions must provide benefits that justify their costs.
CAA advocates holistic approaches to reducing pollution and greenhouse gases, such as:
- investments in research and development related to intelligent transportation systems;
- improvements in vehicle technologies;
- stricter requirements placed upon motor fuels;
- implementing emissions standards for light and heavy-duty vehicles;
- implementing incentive programs that encourage Canadians to adopt alternative vehicles; and,
- education — through awareness campaigns — to encourage Canadians to conserve energy and motorists to make more informed decisions about their vehicle choices and transportation decisions.
