Insurance
All drivers in Canada must have basic automobile insurance.
Depending on where you live, requirements for minimum coverage and where it can be obtained-through private companies or government agencies-will vary.
CAA also offers automobile insurance, visit your local Club for more information.
Keeping the cost of insurance down
Since teens are new drivers with no driving record, their insurance will be costlier than that of more experienced drivers. Teen insurance costs can be kept to a minimum by:
Sharing vehicles – Teens classified as an occasional driver will have lower insurance rates than those classified as a main driver.
Practicing driving – Plenty of driving experience will reduce the risk of a crash, and teens with clean driving records have lower insurance rates.
