OTTAWA – CAA members and the Canadian public are invited to partake in a Government of Canada consultation by Natural Resources Canada. NRCan is proposing to introduce improved fuel consumption labels for new automobiles, such as cars, sport utility vehicles (SUVs), pick-up trucks, and vans under the Energy Efficiency Act (1992) for model year 2016. The new proposed label represents a significant overhaul of the existing fuel consumption label for new automobiles, which has not been significantly modified since its introduction in the 1990s. The objective of this change is to ensure that Canadians have access to comprehensive and meaningful information that allows them to choose efficient vehicles in order to save fuel and money, and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
