School Zone Safety
Improving safety for children on our roads has been a top priority for CAA for nearly a century.
School zones have changed a lot in the last decade. Today, nearly three quarters of kids are driven to school, which means there has been a significant increase in vehicle traffic to school zones – bringing with it more pollution and more unsafe driving behaviours. The safety of our children, and all road users, in school zones is a top priority for CAA.
Through the CAA’s School Safety Patrol® program, public education and advocacy, CAA has been making sure children get to and from school safely. The CAA School Safety Patrol® program is one of Canada’s largest youth volunteer program that helps young Canadians build valuable leadership skills. CAA also advocates, provincially and federally, for infrastructure and safety improvements to school zones. Finally, follow #CAASchoolSafety to get tips on being a prudent and safe driver in school zones.
